Are you in Hawaii looking for a place to satiate your tumtum? Be ready to taste some amazing flavors in the heart of Honolulu! The famous Ohana Hale Marketplace, which was earlier located at Ward, had to be shut down for a new condo project to begin.
But guess what’s the good news?! It has been reopened with even more vibrancy, food truck options, and much more at a new place at a new location on Kalakaua Avenue. The place has definitely upped its game with its resurrection, offering this cool mix of a food truck park and a mini-mall with local shops and super laid-back vibes.
Some Food Options You Must Try!
Ohana Hale Waikiki is a food truck park where you can explore a wide variety of food options. We started our food exploration trip with a delicious Steak Rice Bowl from the Rice Man Hawaii food truck.
As we moved ahead, we found everyone’s favorite, Crispy Chicken, served with Twisted Ribbon Fries and bacon Cheddar Ranch from the Hi. Shack food truck. They have their famous and bestselling dish, Philly Cheese Steak, which you should definitely try.
We were stuffed, but we were like, “Why not give a couple more things a shot?”
While exploring, we stumbled upon this crazy, busy food truck called Byblos Express. When we checked it out, they were dishing out these super-loaded halal Shawarmas for a decent price, starting from $12.
Already filled up with savory goodness, we craved something sweet. Soon, we found the park’s famous waffle stop, Waffle And Berry. Their waffle was crispy with the right amount of sweetness.
This food truck park is packed with over ten trucks lined up close by, offering all sorts of tasty grub. We’re talking wraps, pizza, rice bowls, crispy shrimps, fried chicken, juicy burgers, fruit drinks, sandwiches, shave ice and way more. Basically, whatever you’re craving, you’ll find it right here, ready to chow down on.
The Ohana Hale Food Truck Lot is open from 12 pm to 9 pm, and the indoor marketplace runs from 8 am to 8 pm every day. So you can plan your visit according to your itinerary.
Another highlight of this place is the friendly and welcoming vendors who contribute to the warm and inviting atmosphere. I must say, the vendors are not just purveyors of food; they are passionate individuals who take pride in sharing their culinary creations with visitors.
Every vendor we found here is more than happy to engage in conversations about their dishes, offer recommendations, and share the stories behind their recipes.
I personally love this part because it added a personal touch to our dining experience, making it not just about the food but also about the connections forged with the people behind the delicious creations.
Great Location!
Kalakaua Avenue is the hub of Honolulu, where tourists move to and fro on the street throughout the day. The location is strategically chosen to offer patrons stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
So, when you’re feeling toasted after soaking up the sun, swing by the food truck park for a refreshing bite. While you’re munching away, soak in the sea breeze and bask in the Hawaiian sun. It’s the perfect spot to cool off and chill out.
The place is known not only for its variety of food options or food trucks but also for its unique Hawaiian jewelry. Inside the marketplace, you can also see local vendors selling jewelry right from the street.
Near the Avenue, there’s The Hawaiian Monarch area, which is away from the touristy hustle. However, you can still walk to cool spots like Fort DeRussy Beach Park and Waikiki’s restaurants and nightlife. It’s like getting the best of both worlds—a local experience and the buzz of Waikiki.
But so that you don’t have to keep wandering around to find a transportation option for tourists, there’s an added convenience as well. We have our scooter rental right around the corner, making it even easier for visitors to explore the surrounding area.
After you indulge in satisfying tacos meal, you can just check our rental shop, rent a scooter of your choice, hop on it and effortlessly navigate a variety of nearby attractions, from local beaches to scenic viewpoints.
